Frequently Asked Questions

Is my project too small? Is my project too big?

No and no! We work on refurbishments requests of all sizes, from decorating a single room through to projects requiring structural building and renovation work to the entire property. View our projects which demonstrate the range of projects we have completed.

 How does it all work?

We provide a free no-obligation meeting to discuss your ideas and objectives for your property.  This can either be in person at your property, or via telephone with us subsequently being able to access your property to survey requirements.

Once the brief is agreed, we work with our partner specialists to put together a fully costed proposal. This can take 6-8 weeks depending on the scope of the project. For smaller jobs, estimates are supplied sooner.

On your approval of the proposal, we schedule a timeline and make all necessary arrangements to commence work.

Why do I need a Project Manager?

If you are wanting to improve your home but without having to invest a great deal of your own time to achieve it, then engaging a Project Manager is for you.

With ten years’ local experience and an established network, we have direct access to reliable trades people saving you the time and hassle of sourcing individual contractors. Our relationships with key contacts within architect practices, local council and building contractors also allow us to streamline the process of getting your project underway.

Your Project Manager takes full responsibility for organising every aspect of your project, from scheduling trades people, ordering materials and fittings, and overseeing progress.  They are on-site to inspect work, report back to you and if there are “unknowns” that crop up, will find solutions along the way.

“REFURB added value by making everything easier. I might have been able to do it my-self but Kat is able to do it much better because it’s her job. She does it well, she has good relationships with the different contractors, and she’s there when we’re not, which is crucial. So the extra cost of having her project management team involved felt like money well spent.”

How do I know work is progressing as I wish?

Our exclusive custom-built client dashboard allows you to log-in from anywhere in the world to view work taking place in your home. Your Project Manager will upload photos and videos that allow you to virtually oversee each stage of work, in addition to regular email and phone communication.

Can you work around my holiday bookings?

Of course. We work with you, or liaise with your letting agent, to plan work during periods of vacancy to minimise any loss to your letting income. We have worked with many holiday homeowners to complete refurbishments in limited timeframes, ensuring improvements are completed for the season.

How do you choose your contractors (partner specialists)

Our partner specialists are chosen against strict criteria including professional qualifications, relevant industry registrations and permits, and insurances. We review previous work and seek references.  Our established network of partner specialists have been retained for their proven quality and reliability. We always work with local businesses and trades people where possible.

How do you ensure your pricing is competitive?

Our internal trades are charged at hourly/day rates consistent with the regional industry standard and are assessed against local independent contractors for competitiveness, often proving to be marginally lower per hour/day.

For work requiring contractors/partner specialists, we source two quotes per job to ensure both competitive pricing and choice for our client should they have a preferred supplier.

What are the fees?

Our initial consultation is free, including a preliminary brief of proposed works and mood board. When you are happy to proceed, we work on a fully-costed proposal which includes a project management fee calculated as a percentage of the total overall cost of your project.

An initial deposit allows us to start work on your property, with progress invoices sent at two-week intervals.
