A contemporary holiday home overlooking Burgh Island, Avocet has benefited from Pebbles’ property management and services since 2012. The owners have three holiday homes in the local area and in 2018 they turned to Pebbles to improve revenues from Avocet, through necessary property updates and a new marketing agent.

Perfect Stays was selected to be the marketing agent because of its experience in letting luxury properties and meeting the expectations of modern guests. Keeping the project budget to a level commensurate with the projected letting revenues, Head of Refurbishment Katherine Spencer collaborated with the owners and Perfect Stays, to settle on a specification to reinvigorate the luxury holiday home guest experience, which included:

  • Redesigning the master bedroom with new fabrics and wallpaper
  • New fabric covered headboards for the beds
  • New curtains and blinds
  • New cushions
  • Updating the artwork on the walls

Sympathetic to the existing style of the property, Katherine made strategic changes including choosing colour palettes that tied in with key interior features such as a traditional oil painting in the sitting room.  She also relocated select items of furniture to different parts of the house to give them a new lease of life and to modernise the layout, rather than simply replacing them.

Carefully selected designer details were installed to ensure a luxe but warm and welcoming environment.  For example, in the master bedroom the team chose a textured wallpaper that gave the impression of the sea behind the bed, and combined it with soft linen curtains.  In the living room new sofas, blinds and cushions were brought in alongside vintage travel posters, and in the second bedroom bold colours were replaced with relaxing hues.

Throughout the whole process the team were careful to adhere to both the budget of the owners as well as their personal preferences, retaining items that were dear to them and making features of favoured pieces in each of the rooms.
